08 DAYS/ 7 NIGHTS BALIEM SOUTH TO NORTH

Day 01 Denpasar- Jayapura – Wamena (L,D)
Depart to Jayapura on GA 652 ( 02.30 – 08.40) Arrive at Jayapura Sentani Airport and take a short flight to Wamena. Meet and great upon arrival than sightseeing transfer to hotel with visiting the town of Wamena and stop at traditional market where you can see the Dani tribe exchange their goods. Continue to the hanging bridge in Sinakma, Overnights at The Baliem Valley Resort. (www.balliem-valley-resort.com),

Day 02 Trekking South Baliem Gorge (B,L,D)
In the morning we drive to the southern Baliem-Valley. The road ends in a village called Sogogmo, about 3 km before Kurima. Our walking tour along the powerful Baliem-River begins here. First of all a suspension bridge has to be crossed. After that the tour goes on through romantic Dani settlements with terraced fields and wild groves of sugar cane. All the time we have a wonderful view over the river and the narrow valley. In the early afternoon we reach the church of Seinma where we will having our lunch surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Before we reach Kurima a suspension bridge has to be crossed again. And before we reach our Safari Bus some small side valleys have to be passed. Today we will find a lot of unique photo motives. We will reach the Resort In the late afternoon.

Day 03 PIG Cooking Festival (B,L,D)
A special welcome will be given to you upon your arrival in the Village, all Clan member will be gathering on their best outfit to show their appreciation, the Tribe chief will stand on a Traditional Observation and give the order to his people to celebrate, A special “pig-festival” with the hot stones and the earth pits is probably the most interesting thing to see on a travel to PAPUA will be arrange for you. Photographer and moviemakers will totally be satisfied to day. The unique of such an event can hardly be described by words. You have to see it with your own eyes. Lunch will be inside the hamlet. Of course there is also the opportunity for each guest to eat out of the traditional earth pit. The fresh pig meat and the sweet potatoes taste delicious. Back to the Resort in the late afternoon.

Day 04 Drive to the Pass-Valley & Kotilola Cave,Meagaima-Mummy(B,L,D)
Early in the morning start our Tour to Jiwika and Kurulu in the northern part of the Baliem-Valley. Few kilometres from Kurulu we will visit the famous Kotilola-Cave. The huge cave has partly broken down, a condition that allows a lush vegetation then continue drive to the north to the market-place of Uwosilomo where more photo motives are waiting for us. From here we drive up the mountains to the Pass-Valley, deep green Mountain forest along the way is waiting for us to admire, Lunch break during our ride in a suitable surrounding. Small trips through the beautiful botany are possible. On our way back stop in Meagaima where a old chief-mummy can be seen in a small Dani-hamlet next to the Baliem-River (about 30 min walking) We reach the Resort in the late afternoon.

Day 05 Voyage by boat on the Baliem-River (B,L,D)
In the morning we drive on our Safari Bus to the north passing the City of Wamena to the Assologaima region. Start of our voyage downstream the river on our specially design Raft until we reach the suspension bridge of Wesaput. The comfortable voyage passes beautiful fertile-woods and wild groves of sugar cane. All the time we see old, hidden Dani-hamlets in the shadows of big acacia-trees next to the river. We can observe how Dani-women wash the sweet potatoes for their Dinner and sometimes we can see the natives on their traditional one-tree-boats. In the afternoon we reach the suspension bridge of Wesaput where our Safari Bus is waiting for us. We drive back to the Resort, after our raft it’s safely tied on the cars´ roof.

Day 06 Wamena – Jayapura (B,L,D)
Transfer to Wamena and take a short flight to Jayapura. Upon arrival direct city sightseeing Jayapura. Visiting Sentani Lake, Anthropological Museum ( subject to change )and local Market Hamadi. Overnight at Sentani Indah Hotel.

Day 07. Jayapura Departure (B)
Breakfast at Hotel, then transfer to the Airport leaving for Jayapura to Ujung Pandang Depart by GA 651 (13.00 ) – (16.20 )

Day 08 flight Ujung Pandang – Denpasar by GA. 637 ( 16.55 ) – ( 18.10)
